GROUND PENETRATING RADAR QUICK SCAN

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Quick Scan is a reactive, cost-effective method for assessing floors, walls and soffits before cutting, drilling or pneumatic breaking is undertaken. It is normally carried out as a live scan in conjunction with the site team along side CAT scans and offers the advantage of the operatives advice and guidance in real time before work begins.

Purpose

  • Identify buried or concealed services.

  • Reduce the risk of costly damage to infrastructure.

  • Help protect operatives from serious or fatal injury.

What the scan provides

Ground-penetrating radar produces a visual representation of utilities, hidden objects and subsurface structures, regardless of the materials from which they are made.

What the GPR Quick scan can identify

  • Pipes and conduits made from metal, plastic or clay.

  • Electrical power lines and data cabling.

  • Underground structures and voids.

  • Block & Beam Floor Structures.

  • Clay Pot Floor Structures.

  • Visual 3D imagery of reinforcing bar and depth.

  • Hidden Manholes / Undercrofts.

Why Choose GPR Over CAT (Cable Avoidance Tool)

The preference for Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) over Cable Avoidance Tools (CAT) stems from GPR's capability to detect non-metallic utilities as well as power / data cables and provide comprehensive subsurface visual imaging. GPR systems send radar waves into the ground and analyse the reflected signals to locate buried objects and subs irregularities. This makes GPR especially valuable in scenarios involving plastic pipes, clay, or other non-metallic materials that CAT cannot detect, as these materials do not conduct electricity. Additionally, GPR's automated features and detailed visual outputs make it a more favourable choice in various applications. GPR is not designed to replace CAT scans, simply to work as an additional tool to protect against injury and damage to infrastructure.
